Silver Bangle Bracelets Hints and Tips

If you are looking for that perfect silver bangle for the lady in your life, here's a few things you might want to think about.

Firstly, scale. Do you want a bangle that's slim and delicate, a subtle silver highlight for her wrist or do you want a big, chunky bangle as a statement piece? Scale isn't necessarily about size, it's about what suits, and how much impact your want the bangle to make. If it is the only piece of jewellery you're planning to wear, go big with a high impact silver cuff or wide silver bangle. If it's going to be worn as an everyday bangle or as part of a selection of different pieces, then we suggest you opt for a slimmer design.

Next, style. There are basically 2 types of silver bangles. Those that are made in a full circle which you have to slip your hand through and those which are a silver cuff bracelet with an opening on the underside for you to slide over your wrist. The solid circle type are the strongest for their weight, however, because it is an unbroken circle, there is no flexibility on the size so you need to be sure of the lady's wrist size. The cuff style can be adjusted for a perfect fit and is suitable for a larger range of wrist sizes.

Once you've decided on the type and scale of bangle, you need to pick the perfect size. To find out the minimum inner circumference of the full circle style, hold out you hand with your fingers straight out and touch the tip of your little finger with your thumb. This will make your hand as small as possible. Then get someone else (it really needs 3 hands!) to measure around the widest point to give you the circumference you need to get your hand though the bangle. If it's a gift, and measuring her hand is not an option, simply measure another bangle she already owns.

Last but not least, finish. As bangles have a large flat surface they tend to show scratches easily so if you are planning to wear it every day you may want to go for a hammered or textured finish which won't show wear and tear in the same way. If it is a piece for spcial occassions then the smooth silver bangles look stunning and can be kept scratch free by storing them spearately in their own box.
