So what's the difference between handmade and mass produced cufflinks?
There is a baffling array of cufflinks out there from silk knots to comedy cufflinks, classic cufflinks in solid silver perfect for engraving to spectacular
contemporary ones from the UK's top designers. The question is what's the difference? :
- Sterling Silver – Most mass produced cufflinks are silver plated, and even those what have silver faces,
usually use cheaper metal for the backs. The advantage of this is that they are lighter, cheaper and stronger than pure silver.
If you are looking for an heirloom pair if cufflinks, or a set of engraved cufflinks with your initials, then we recommend looking for
those that are sterling silver throughout and hallmarked.
- Handmade – Most cufflinks are mass produced in huge quantities which allows manuafacturers to keep prices low.
However, if price is not your main motivation, and you are looking for something more unusual, then handmade silver cufflinks may be worth considering.
As with all handmade jewellery, handmade silver cufflinks are made by skilled silversmiths, with each pair taking hours of work.
- Material – Our range of handmade cufflinks are all sterling silver. However if pure silver isn;t interesting enough for you,
then why not take a look at the other unusual materials we've used to create our luxury cufflinks. We have stylish designer cufflinks made from reclaimed ebony and
tropical kingwood. These lovely wooden cufflinks are made from polished woooden pebbles inlaid with pure silver. For something completely unique we have 2 different styles set with
rare green Baltic amber from tiny amber buttons to giant supersized amber cabuchons set in polsihed silver. For something unusual, how about polsied silver set with shimmering black
keshi pearl. Last but not least we have the very unusual seaglass cufflinks. Chunks of hundred year old glass, polished into smooth, frosted pebbles by the ocean and combed from the
beaches of the North east coast before being set in sterling silver given its own frozted finish to compliment the ancient glass. Available in 4 colours from frosted ice to midnight blue,
each pair is completely unique. .
- Limited edition – The great advantage of handmade cufflinks is that production quantities are much smaller giving you an opportunity
to own a something much more unusual. Our range of cufflinks have been created by designers across the world, using a range of completely unique materials combined
with sterling silver in limited quantities so that we can guarantee that our cufflinks are totally unique.
