Flora Hilltribe Silver Set
The Karen Hilltribe people live in the hills of Northern Thailand. For centuries they have worked with local materials to make beautiful and unique handicrafts. Among these crafts is silver smithing. Because they do not have the modern smelting equipment needed to make standard sterling silver, hilltribe silver is purer (at 99% silver rather than the 92.5% of sterling). This makes it soft and maleable, allowing them to create lovely botanically inspired beads.
This lovely necklace and bracelet are handmade for us by the hilltribe people themselves so that we can support their community and bring you something a little different.
Each bead is handmade and then lightly oxidised to bring out the detail in the flowers and beading before being strung on hard wearing cotton cord. Both bracelet and neckace are finished with a hammered silver T bar clasp.
If you don't like the oxidised finish, it can be removed with a polishing cloth or light dip but you will always see some darker shadowing within the flowers due to the way they are engraved.
