Flora Hilltribe Silver Bracelet
The Karen Hilltribe people live in the hills of Northern Thailand. For centuries they have worked with local materials to make beautiful and unique handicrafts; among these is silver smithing. Because they do not have the modern smelting equipment needed to make standard sterling silver, hilltribe silver is purer (at 99% silver rather than the 92.5% of sterling). This makes it soft and maleable, giving is a more satiny finish, and making it possible for them to make these amazing botantical beads by hand.
We have these lovely bracelets handmade to our own design by the hilltribe people themselves, so that we can support their community and bring you something a little different.
Each bracelet is handmade using hilltribe silver beads, strung on strong cotton thread, and finished with a simple, handmade T-bar clasp. It is lightly oxidised to bring out the detail. If you prefer a more uniform silvery finish, this natural oxidation can be removed with a polishing cloth or light dip.
