Flora Hilltribe Silver Necklace
This beautiful necklace is made for us using a selection of 99% pure silver beads and flowers by the Karen Hilltribe people of Northern Thailand. 4 strands of satiny silver tubes, decorated with handmade silver flowers.
 The Karen Hilltribe people live in the hills of Northern Thailand. For centuries they have worked with local materials to make beautiful and unique handicrafts. Among these crafts is silver smithing.
Because they do not have the modern smelting equipment needed to make standard sterling silver, hilltribe silver is purer (at 99% silver rather than the 92.5% of sterling). This makes is soft and maleable, allowing them to make their lovely botanically inspired beads.
These lovely necklaces are handmade for us by the hilltribe people themselves so that we can support their community and bring you something a little different.
Each bead is handmade and then lightly oxidised to bring out the detail in the flowers. The necklace is finished with a hammered silver T bar clasp. If you don't like the oxidised finish, it can be removed with a polishing cloth or light dip but you will always see some darker shadowing within the flowers due to the way they are engraved.
