With Christmas behind us (just!) we are now turning our minds to new designs, and that means some of the older pieces need to go to make room for the new.

It always annoys me when I see "70% Off" in sales. That just makes me feel like I've been ripped off at the full prices. When we started the business we decided we would rather try and offer the best possible value for money all year round, rather than mark things up and then do price slashing sales. However we do try and do a little something every now and again. So, to clear a little space, we have decided to offer a selection of our designs at 20% off while stocks last. In the case of some of the pieces, there's only 1 left, but for some we have a few more, but don't expect them to hang around for long.

At Corazon Latino we pride ourselves on our customer service; making sure each and every customer gets exactly what they want, when they want it. As the holiday season approaches our legendary service comes into it's own.

When you say a matching set of jewellery people immediately think a bracelet and necklace, perfectly matched and a little bit TOO “neat”. If you’re not a matching sets kind of girl but want a coordinated lake, take a look at the matching bangle and ring sets from Corazon Latino. Not only are they absolutely stunning, but they keep the matching to just one hand (or wear the ring on the opposite hand and you hardly see the similarity) allowing you to mix and match with necklaces and earrings in different materials and styles to create your own unique look.

What are my personal favourites?

Top of the pile has to be the Pandora bangle and ring. Not only is it my favourite bangle of all time, but we have deliberately twisted the ring in the opposite direction to break up the line and give them a little extra edge.

Next would be the Borealis bangles and rings. A spectacular jewel encrusted bangle with a lovely chunky matching ring. This season's look is all about long lines and it's not just the clothes. The latest trend is long necklaces, worn over winter sweaters either as a single "flapper" length necklace or worn double with one longer and one shorter strand.

We saw the trend coming and have spent the past months working with our artisans in Thailand and India to create 4 lovely long necklaces, perfect for this winters look.

First there is the striking Etain (£150), A beautiful handmade silver rose hung from a 94cm long lariat of solid silver beads. Each end of the lariat is finished with a delicate handmade lily. Fans of the soft, satiny Karen hilltribe silver from Northern Thailand will be enchanted by it's stunning workmanship.

Then there is the sleek, modern Niamh silver nuggets necklace (£250). 11 chunky, polished solid silver nuggets suspended from a 140 cm long fine silver chain. Depending on the look you're going for this can be worn super long, wrapped double or even triple to create a dense choker. Despite its delicate look, this weighs in at over 50g making it a heavyweight piece that any woman would be proud to own.

Then we have the gorgeous Belisama (£175). 140cm long again, this lovely necklace combines a fine sterling silver chain with 11 cushion cut gems. Gorgeous mesh and crystal necklaces from Peppercotton

Having started my own jewellery business thanks to a happy accident, I am always on the lookout for other accidental jewellers. This quest led me to New York based team Aurelia Cotton and Patrick Culpepper of Peppercotton who stumbled across their clever crystal mesh concept while working together on a completely different concept.

Silver prices starting to come down

FINALLY! after 3 months of souring silver prices, which, combined with the crumbling economy, has seen some of the biggest names in jewellery retailing stuggling, prices have started to come down.

Thanks to our extremley loyal customers we have been bucking the trend and growing steadily over the past 3 years, expanding our silver jewellery range year on year. Now we have the opportunity to show our gratitude. We are watching the silver prices closely and we are making a simple commitment to our loyal customers -We will pass on any reductions we receieve from our artisans direct to our customers.

On tour - Finalising our 2011 silver jewellery range

It's that time again. Every year we scour the world looking for interesting new designs and unusual "raw materials" to create new pieces of jewellery around. This year, not only have our artisans come up with some fantastic new pieces but we have also decided to do our bit for the British economy by supporting a selection of British jewellery designers and featuring a selection of pieces from "guest designers" based right here in dear old blighty. More of that over the coming weeks, when I will take the opportunty to introduce you to each of these fabulous designers who will be gracing our pages from this summer onwards.

In the meantime, I am travelling round Asia finalising our own new designs and making sure every piece is as practical as it is beautiful.

So what's coming?

Well, building on the success of our Borealis jewelled rings and for those of you who have asked us for more colour in our range, we will be bringing you more sparkle with a jewelled bangle, gemstone bracelets and a lovely jewelled necklace, all handmade for us by the fabulous gemcutters of Jaipur. From the hills of Northern Thailand we will be bringing you more chain mail (we have a necklace that will blow your socks off!) and some really unusual chunky silver bangles with matching rings. From the team in Bangkok, we have some pretty variations on our popular Eros set.

Not to be outdone by the guys in Asia, the guys and girl in Mexico have also come up wth some stylish new silver pieces which I am sure will become classics.

Last but by no means least, and by popular demand, we will finally be doing something for the boys, with a range of gorgeous handmade silver cufflinks including 2 designs from one of our British guest designers.

We'll be shooting the range in June and hope to everything online before the end of July. I for one, can't wait!

bracelets by New York based jeweller Hassan Bounkit. Moroccan born Bounkit, who studied fashion design in Florence and started his career at Salvatore Ferragamo before moving to New York and setting up his own studio designng handmade jewellery inspired by his Moroccan heritage.

With 3 collections a year, there are dozens of stunning pieces to choose from, here are just 3 of my favourites:

Starting at $550, there's the lovely light and dark Amethyst cuff. 13 amethysts set in a 2cm wide, 24k gold plated cuff. It's actually available in 6 different combinations but my two favourites are the amethyst and the turquoise and blue topaz.

If you like warmer colours, then how about this lovely faceted carnelian and white agate bracelet. Again, set in 24k plated gold, it costs $650.

Last but by no means least, there's the breathtaking faceted smoky topaz, green amethyst and lemon quartz cuff. A 6.4cm wide 24k gold plated hinged cuff, set with big, chunky gems, it comes in at a whopping $1195, but isn't it stunning?

Beautiful botantical jewellery from Columbian designer Clara Saldariagga

If you like jewellery inspired by nature, why not take it one stage further with these absolutely stunning rose and orchid earrings? Part of the "nature Collection by jewellery designer Clara Saldariagga, each pair is made by dipping real flowers, leaves and seeds in electrolytic copper before plating them in sterling silver or 24k gold. Celebrating the biodiversity of her native Columbia, Saldariagga uses a clever technique which literally freezes nature, and allows each piece to develop it's own unique patina as it reacts (safely) with the owners skin making every piece completely unique.

Starting at just over $100 for the delicate leaf pendant, and $300 for the gorgeous orchid earrings, they're not easy to get hold of, being made to order in Colombia, but I have to say, I think they might just be worth the effort.

Naughty or Nasty the new silver and porcelain addiction pendants from Cast of Vices?

Personalised silver jewellery using silver art clay

For years, companies have been offering to create uinque pieces of silver jewellery based around a finger print (particularly popular with parents). As this concept has increased in popularity and people have become more and more adept at working in silver art clay, people have come up with more and more creative ways to personalise jewellery.

I've never been a particular fan of the finger print (but then I'm not a parent), but I do like the idea of being able to imprint a drawing, signature a fragment of writing in silver.

If you can't get past tiny charms and pendants with finger prints on, what about these ideas for something a little more adult...

Create a unqiue piece of memorial jewellery by having a lost loved one's writing on a silver pendant. Whether that's the signature of an artist, the musical notes of a composer, the doodles of a cartoonist or simply a few words of a note from that special person to you, there is always an opportunity to immortalise that unique scribble in silver.

Go for a really personal alternative to engraving by writing your own message in you own handwriting and having that set into the silver.

Unfortunately, this technique is based around jewellery made from art clay (a claylike substance that is imprinted and then baked in a kiln to burn off the clay and leave 99.9% pure silver) so you are restricted to the pieces of jewellery they can make with the clay and the finish that comes from this kind of process. You won;t be seeing highly polished, contemporary silver jewellery with this kinnd of personalistion, but if you are happy with the style and want to create a lasting and very personal memory it is well worth considering.
